AN EXCERPT/PASSAGE FROM MY NEW FICTION I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON COMPLETING. "THE KING AND THE BARGAINER". OPINIONS WELCOME ON THE DIALOGUE/SITUATION:
The Bargainer nodded while joyfully devouring his banquet, so I continued. Unfolding the original note to read it aloud now that it was just the two of us in this room, both of us knew only I would be leaving this room alive; When everything was said and done and our bargain fulfilled, I'd gleefully have him hung slowly. The more kicks the hanged make the deeper my glee.
I started reading aloud to clarify for both of us: "My liege, I am the Bargainer. Here's my bargain to you: I'd like a short time of complete honesty between us, in complete privacy. Any question I'll ask of you will be answered in brutal honesty with no truth I ask for held back. All secrets will be revealed to me. This would be in your royal perfect seclusion away from prying eyes and ears. In return, I forfeit my life to you for this exclusive privilege. You set the time, for as long or as short as this exchange amuses you. Tonight will be the last conversation I will ever have, and all your secrets will be utterly safe since I won't survive the encounter. Signed: The Bargainer.
"This is your note and proposal word for word, and since you are sitting here enjoying my fine hospitality, I have readily agreed. You will not leave this room alive when we are finished. I will have you hung here from that ceiling hook" I pointed to a single thick black hook embedded high above him. Fortunately, when I had this room designed, I had thought ahead so I could enjoy private hangings, unseen by the public, which only I and a few guards would ever see. I intended to fully enjoy this spectacle!
