Discussion Are NEETs the Western equivalent of Japan's Hikikomori? Are there even significant differences between the two?

to be fair I heard of hikkimories/shut in having a job, while the term NEET means not doing anything , but doesn't require you you to be enclosed at home.

Hikikomoris can be NEET and their parents dont care.

Western NEETs have it harder. Plus in the west, the hyper degeneracy of women is more extreme due to access to all kinds of chad/chadlites/tyrones/tyronelites/etc.

While in Japan they don't have to experience the depressing blackpill of seeing mini hitlers chasing after 6'5 chads and 6'3 chadlites everyday.

Weimarica has the most NEETs. Many NEETs are simply guys who think working is not worth it anymore.
Once the wages become too low, people just stop working.

Work life in Japan is even worse than the West as is the birth rate, so I don't think the hikis are having a great time over there. The west has better welfare programs and less of a shame culture although social stigma for the unemployed/disabled will always exist.

To answer the question, yes, i'd say the term is pretty much interchangeable.
