After reading so many books in my life, I can't take anime seriously anymore.
I mean, there are some funny scenes, some nice music, but to this day I never seen an anime so "powerful" that made me change my ways. That happened with a lot of books I read in the past though.
Anime overall is shallow as fuck, even Clannad can't really reach the essence of the human nature like Balzac or Dostoevsky did.
I still watch anime, but just for fun. I gave up on trying to see something of value in anime other than entertainment.
Saying that Clannad changed your perspectives on life tells me that you're not a well cultured person. But that's okay, you're just normal. At least you can enjoy mediocre media at its fullest, unlike me. Ignorance is bliss.

I believe that most forms of media are art and that of course you can take something from them, maybe learn a lesson. But as for watching a few episodes of ANYTHING and wanting to do a 180 or 360 change ya whole life around? fuck no.

Sure there have been times where I was inspired by a series to implement tiny changes and analyze myself and become aware of internal conflicts within me and look into myself as a person a little deeper but that's usually once in a blue moon. If you're looking to make a huge impact on your psyche or outlook or whatever, do drugs, especially psychedelics! If you're in the right mindset you can leave with a good proverbial mental puzzle piece or a little revelation.
