Discussion did you guys have a consistent masculine role model growing up?

did you have a masculine figure growing up who:
you looked up to
would condemn your self doubts
would tell you that you are in fact good enough, until you stopped doubting yourself?

i’ve been thinking about this a lot and whilst i did have a father present, he failed to give me self esteem and confidence by reassuring me on my self doubts. he lacked the confidence himself.

this is one of the most important factors in a persons self esteem, judging from my research. i think a lot of people who arent necessarily ugly but still ended up in these fringe, edgy spaces lacked an effective father figure growing up.
