We all do dumb things, that's what makes us human!

I was born in 2005, but ever since I was a child I've always been really fascinated (and probably obsessed) with the 1990s. Or really just the pre-9/11 era in general. My parents are Gen X and they don't think those times were all that great (well, better but not utopian). The fall of the Soviet Union meant that the United States was left as the world's sole superpower; Yeltsin was in the Kremlin and China was still putting itself together.
And while there were issues at home, most people seem to have held the opinion that the future would be bright. By the end of the decade, a lot of people were online, but the Web was like the Wild West and it hadn't been raped by corporations yet. It was something you could really only access at home, when you were out and about there was no slop to keep you occupied. To me the 90s represent a sort-of pinnacle of society, where the old world and new world (latter being the Internet and its influence) were at a balance with each other.
Anyway, in school I'd daydream about living back then. Not even just the historical events, I tried to picture my daily life and how it'd be like if I were born 20 years earlier. In that world I feel like I'd be complete, happy, content with it all. But it's just a way to cope with how harsh things are outside of my head. I don't know where I'm going with this but yeah.
