Considering you don't really go outside, do you really need to learn Japanese, Mandarin, etc instead of just using translation software? You'll only be communicating with people from those countries online which also means you can use translation.
But I need to consume media better!
You can use tools to extract dialogue and then translate it. Same with games you can almost always find a script online or watch a YouTube video of the cutscense then extract the dialogue for translation. If you want to translate the game yourself you need to know some programming but you can still rely on software for the actual translation rather than injection and the technical half
But I need to understand their cultural quirks!
Those are used in certain contexts that you can pick up through inconsistencies in translation. You don't really need them for casual conversation most of the time anyway
But translation software isn't always accurate
nothing is perfect, but it's better than nothing if you don't have the time or intelligence needed. You don't need expert level translation for casual online conversation or consuming media unless you're looking into history. There are dedicated websites for X language that are done by experts if you can't rely on Google/Yandex

Unless you plan to travel and work in those countries you can communicate online using just translation. I still choose to learn it because I have a high chance of moving to China for work someday due to my field but I hang on their online spaces by just translating everything. Even YouTube videos I only understand on a surface level because I'm used to extracting the dialogue. I'm gonna play a Chinese only game called 古劍2 GuJian2 by watching cutscenes on youtube and using the translations as a guide

If you're racist you should (ironically) know more about non-whites than libs do, which is quite easy actually

Average leftist has a 100 day streak on Duolingo at best, they can't learn

>Non white
Average leftist doesn't need to learn because they believe everyone speaks English already. No concept of cultural preservation

Why would you willingly learn Chinese instead of Japanese?

It's easier
I heard the opposite a lot but let‘s say the are both about the same difficulty or Japanese is harder, it is the way more pleasant to listen to Japanese and Japanese people aren’t complete scumbags like Chinese people.

To hang on their spaces! Japanese internet is really interesting
That’s reasonable tbh, western culture and people are disgusting

Not that I am saying Japan internet would be good by any means but it would be fucking gay

I learn Taiwanese mandarin not mainland Chinese. Taiwanese people are basically Japs that speak funny. "There is no water in Taiwan. Only Japanese cum"

Out of all my time spent on different language spaces English internet is by far the one with the most mentally ill people per capita. Only Russia comes close

I speak a little bit of Niggerish(English), Portuguese, Spanish and Galego.
The last one I started learning because of a girl I liked in high school. She knew Portuguese though, but I wanted to impress her. Not even need to mention, but of course I didn't have the guts to talk to her. At least I can speak about anime with some weebs from Galicia and Asturias.

俺はセックスをするんじゃねえ!
俺が、俺自身が、真のセックスになるんだ!
やめろ、タケシお前これ以上は体力がもたない!
いや、俺はセックスになる!絶対にセックスになるんだ!
やめろ、死んじまうぞタケシ!
おめえ、命が尽きても、尽きたらセックスができねえだろうが!
うるせえ!俺は死んだってセックスをするんだ!

Didn't your ex gf say not to be racist to Chinese people?
Maybe your right I always hear people say Japanese sounds better

You are forgetting about the most important part of learning a language.
The overwhelming sense of superiority you get when you can enjoy that fucking piece of media sans translation but your friends and acquaintances can't. They have to wait for the translation.

Then there are more practical considerations....

If you get a girlfriend in your target language, I want to see you bring along translation software.
You want to be able to understand nuance so she can't talk over your head with her friends about.

If you really really really only want to play a game in the language even then learning it would make for a more fluid experience.
But if you are able to handle the annoyance of switching back and forth between translation and game, good for you. I can't...

Then there is just more meaning in learning something. You have actually accomplished something apart from just playing a game.
Then also if you learn a language, you will learn a different way of thinking. A language isn't just a funny way of saying the same shit. Some things are very difficult to think and express in some languages while they are very easy in other languages.
Like love, in formal french prose the distinction between love and sex is much more fluid than in english for example.
