Does everyone here know how to read and write?

I'm wondering how many NEETs are NEET because they don't even know how to read or write.

For those of you who can't, how do you get by? Do you just have to go by symbols like the Men's and Women's Bathroom symbol and learn what different street signs look like?

How do people respond when they find out you can't read/write?
