Do you guys think every country (or region) should segregate itself into its own corner of the internet? I don't mean corners of YouTube or whatever that's already a thing. I mean that every country should have its own ecosystem separate from the rest. On one hand this makes it tailored to that country's needs enough that gwailos have a hard time making sense of what's happening even if they speak the language. On the other hand this gives that country's government immense control over their information and activity, which isnt good if you don't want to live in a dystopia. This way everybody stays in their own bubble and only people who really know what they're doing can pop out and reach other corners. As an example, China has a knock-off of literally any site you can think of. China has the most internet users in the world (around 900 million) by far but you don't hear about them often because they don't use popular western sites as much as the Japanese or Koreans do. Instead of Facebook they have 微博, instead of Instagram they have 小紅書, instead of youtube they have bilibili and et cetera. Due to this the Chinese web is almost completely contained within itself and foreigners/外國人 can't make any sense of it without some moderate understanding of the language. Even then, their websites usually have a verification system that makes it impossible for foreigners to sign up. So there's online games like 夢幻西遊 that had 400 million active users by 2015 but no one in the English speaking side has heard of it. Imagine how much shit is going on in there that we foreigners have no right to know about lol
