Are people from the first world or third world more prone to NEETdom? Third worlders live in much more conservative/strict societies where there aren't any options or welfare but people are expected or even encouraged to live with their families well into their 50s. (At least in my parts of Africa). Thirdies also have less access to the internet and therefore less ways to cope. On the other hand first worlders have access to all kinds of welfare and projects that help them bounce back but a far less family-oriented society where its easier to be ostracised or blamed for things that aren't your fault. Not to mention the more liberal views towards sex and marriage where promiscuity is promoted rather than shamed making relationships far more complicated and short term at least for those who have a shot. Honestly it seems like first worlders are a lot more depressed despite having less reasons to be so. I'm originally from the third world but moved to the first world and in both cases NEETdom was the same. Main difference is that it was easier to go outside in the first world because it's actually safe and I don't have to worry about getting popped. What about you guys? I'm assuming most of you live in wealthy countries where you can apply for disability money and live easy.

It's a first world phenomenon. I think NEET was coined in the UK and hikkikomori in Japan and that's no coincidence

At least, regular people being neet. In the third world there are overpaid corrupt officials that basically live like neets. From what I've heard from relatives in Africa alot of the politicians and such are basically neet, hardly doing much actual work and living in gated communties while regular people fight for a meal

Truth! I had neighbours with relatives in the government who would stare at you blankly if you asked wtf they do for a living. Being rich in Africa must be a serious power trip. You alone sit on probably 20% of your entire country's wealth but sit down and do nothing with it. What a shithole of a continent.

People in the 1st world are privileged and have alot of free time on their hand, 3rd worlders dont have the privilege to NEET or think about dropping out of society. When your main goal is to fight for food or basic needs, NEETing is the last thing which comes to mind

It might also be necessary to mention that the 1st world is individualistic, whilst thirdies are collectivist so they have their family to fall back on if something goes wrong

Saudis can NEET all they want considering their wealthy cousins will always have their needs backed up, their uncle who runs an oil company can give them a small gift of a million riyals to keep them afloat while they play around with strippers in their penthouses

I believe you said you live there unless I confused you for someone else
