I actually agree with your take but for different reasons. Friends, real friends, cannot exist because most people end up raising a family, and once they start their family, they toss friends aside to focus on what they really care about, their wife/husband and their kids. Friendships can only exists during childhood or teenage years, after that you can be acquaintances at best, because they never have time for you, they're too busy raising their family.

You do agree with me though. Life is all about competing to pass on your genes. They are focused on their family over their friends because that's what really matters. But before you have a family, it is all a competition(more explicitly once puberty hits, but it is always there.)

Well yeah but i don't necessarily agree with the notion that if a female doesn't have sex with you it is because she doesn't care about you. Like theoretically there is nothing stopping a female from caring deeply about a guy but still not wanting to have sex with him. In practice, said female will find a husband and then throw that guy out the window to focus on her family.
