You already know what not to do, don't be annoying and pointlessly argumentative and people will like you more. It's a hard sell to get someone to like you if you insult them or start arguing over something trivial, the best way to get someone to agree to your perspective is never to argue outright with them. Have you ever noticed that when you try to argue, the other person only becomes more entrenched in their view and so do you?

The ideal way to convince someone of your point of view is to give some credibility to their own perspective and not shut them down. You have to keep them engaged and open themselves so they lean into your own argument willingly and of their own volition. Although, at the end of the day, most of our opinions mean very little and they change without us thinking much about it, even still, nobody wants to be told they're stupid or uncultured or whatever and that only you know right.
