Most of my friends from college are weebs and I feel left out of the conversation whenever they talk about anime.

The only anime I ever watched was Pokemon and Bakugan when I was like 10. What anime should I start with? What's so good about it that all PSL forums seem to be filled with weebs?

What non-anime shows do you typically like?
Anime are like TV shows in that there are many genres and niches.
myanimelist is a good place to start, you can filter shows by popularity, genre and ratings.
There are lots of different shows catering to different audiences.

You may need to ask your friends what anime they're watching as there are thousands of anime just like there are thousands of TV shows - some good, some bad, some trashy.

When it comes to actually watching anime you can choose between 'dub' and 'sub'. Sub is Japanese voice with subtitles in your language; dub is a voiceover. Most die-hard weebs prefer sub over dub, but it's a personal preference at the end of the day.

As for where to watch anime, plenty of streaming services like Netflix host them now. There are also certain websites of dubious legality that host shows which you can find with a quick search.

I'm in the same boat. I used to like anime a little. I like lost, 12 monkeys, coming of age shit. I tried to get into Monster and death note but I can't.
