The purchase was still not registered and thus illegal. Like if you are driving a stolen care, without a driving license.

Guns are hard to find on the deepweb, marketplaces disallow them since it adds on a lot of extra heat. You're better off getting someone you know to buy you a gun if you can't legally buy one or going to a very conservative state and going to a parking lot to meetup with a gun seller.
