I cope by telling myself that greatness is relative and entirely dependent on the zeitgeist of the times. There are many underated great people with great deeds whose accomplishments go unnoticed because they do not serve the narrative of life.

So in that respect my need for greatness is a relic of my teenage years whence I wished to conjure the chronicle of life. Atleast that's my cope

This is actually true tho. Not a single scientist today is ANYWHERE near the level of hawking, newton, Einstein, all the great figures of the past.

Also yes there is a huge luck component in becoming big. U really think the geniuses born in the hood end up succeeding growing up around shootings and drugs and shit? Like that indian mathematician who was undiscovered ramajuan

The percentage of people who aren't "great" is so high it's basically everyone. Assuming u mean like being famous enough to have an essay length Wikipedia article

Early signs of greatness and relevance

He was a freak of nature and lucky to be discovered at all. Anyway, my point is we don't know him as great because he was a genius mathematician (which he was) . We know him because of the narrative and tone his story sets.

I think about this a lot so I was gonna add in some more thoughts. I do feel depressed about this a lot but not about myself in particular not being great, just depressed for everyone in general if that makes sense.

It's also really just narcissism that makes one think this in the first place. Obviously everyone wud choose to be great if they could but they're not depressed about it lol.

I mean if u really take it to it's natural conclusion , it's kinda fucked up. In order for everyone to be remarkable everyone else has to be unremarkable. Only way that could happen is if like we all had our own little personal virtual paradises. Which seems to be what we're going towards as a species anyways tho lol

Everyone already kinda lives in their own world anyway watching their favorite content on stream, only talking to people in their carefully curated online spaces, etc.
