Discussion How do you name your in-game characters

Do you have any logic or reason behind the way you name your characters in games? Do you roleplay as them and try to fulfill a character or just wing it? I went through my mounts in Mabinogi and realised I basically name them using the name of whoever I dislike at that time. My worst mount is an eagle I named "Obama"

I have a bunch of chickens in stardew named shit like RTX, AE86, kunta kinte, BBC, Moondust etc

I make up names that sound like they would fit within the game's world

i usually go with something that sounds really silly like “Bingus McChingus” or “Boob” or ”Flop”

i constantly change, in multiplayer games like FPS i just change everytime to shit like WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, ilililililililiililili, random words or things like mako shark or whatever, if i care about the game i make up a good name

It depends on what my characters are and what they look like. Take for example I named a recent Nord character I made in Skyrim Mikul the Sly cause it sounds Nordic/Scandinavian. Just a phonetic corruption of the name Michael.

I tend to use name generators then make a name based off that.

Mostly historical reference, if they are elven who are good at archery I'll name them from medieval welsh name database.
I name my player character as something like "Attila", whoever fitting my playstyle.

I just pick something that I think will sound cool, usually containing the first syllable of my name, since I think it's a cool sounding syllable.

I try to create a name for roleplay reasons and depending on the skin mods I like I usually end up naming it after the characters the skins are based on.
