Remember this if you ever start an online business: cold calling. Well, not exactly "calling" if you don't live in America or the UK or such. But a cold calling approach to as many people as possible is the key to online business.

And I'm not making it up either. I've been browsing SaaS and business forums and reddits for a while. The successful guys always preach this one thing: contacting as many people as possible through calls or DMs on various social media platforms or even emails.

So if you have a product, you picture what type of person/business would buy your product, and you cold call as many people as possible, that's the best way to generate sales.

I will apply this principle too once I find what to sell. Not a physical product I'd hate to deal with the logistic of that, pain in the ass. Some sort of software as a service maybe.

P.S: Perhaps "cold emailing" is the better term in this case, since a literal call is unrealistic. Can be automated too in many ways, you can send hundreds+ emails a day.

Well I guess spam is one way to market a product

Not really spam, presenting a good image for your company is key, and explaining why they need your product too. A spam message won't really help with that, a lot of successful guys edit the email a bit so as to customize the image for each customer.

Being seen as a spammer would be a bad thing, so it's more like "Hello, we are X and we believe our product could be very useful in generating income for your company Y". And then you move on to your sales pitch and why they need your product.

Technically everyone kinda knows this, but also not a lot realize just how important this method is. It's THE main money maker for all small to medium size online businesses.

That's why datamining is a legit business, because people want information on potential customers for advertising to them

100%, it's BIG business. Personally I'm too frugal to pay for any data, I'll try to find the kind of product I can sell where my audience is rather easy to find. Maybe business to business (b2b) so I can just find company emails online and send them my sales pitch on why they NEED my product.
