I didn’t even let myself watch a bit of the film through unofficial streaming to see if it was worth it. If I had, I would’ve realized how dry the script was. I never even stopped to ask myself if I’d find this comedy funny in the first place. Just from the trailer, I had a feeling it was aimed more at a female audience—but I ignored that gut feeling.

I even told my mom about the Sony-Netflix deal and that it might end up on Netflix. So, it wasn’t hard to make an educated guess that the movie would hit the platform soon. When it finally did, I asked her to try getting a refund, and I heard one way is by claiming the purchase was accidental. To make her feel better, I lied and told her I had watched the whole movie, even though I didn’t—I usually watch movies in small chunks while eating.

In the end, it was a waste of money, and I fully knew better because of that Sony-Netflix deal.
