Discussion I would go utterly mad if I were to become neet again

Not because I enjoy working, but because being left in the house on my own, isolated from the big wide world, would drive me completely crazy.

Before it didn't for some reason. But now that I am back into a routine of working, I don't want to be by myself anymore. Listening to my own thoughts all alone.

It's a bit like therapy, I toil and toil at my workstation for 12 hours a day mostly thinking about stuff but there's lots of things happening around me. It's as if I'm working in a mental asylum. All the criminals and blacks and crazy people are locked in a prison (workplace) for 12 hours a day away from the normal people.

The managers treat us like slaves. If we are good slaves, they sometimes make us participate in competitions or games for their own entertainment. Today I participated in a game and won and now I move onto the next round with the other person who won their game.

The managers stood and watched and were entertained by me and then I went back to my desk and toiled once more.

But there is a cathartic release in it all. The few hours I have to relax in my room before having to go to sleep for another day of suffering are priceless. It's a beautiful feeling to know I have a designated amount of time to enjoy as much as I can instead of having all the time in the world and not knowing what to do with it.

But as I said, the best thing is that I am going back into the real world every day. If I were neet, I would be locked away in my chambers whilst the world continued on around me. Having to feel that again now that I have this perspective would make me severely mentally ill.

Most NEETs are larpers and nothing more, none of us actually enjoy rotting home all day like a prisoner in solitary confinement.
There was a time when I enjoyed it. Don't think I could now. I'm sorta concerned for the Christmas break coming up because I don't want to get used to being off.

true i shouldnt have left my job in march bcas my dad said its too far now his seeing me struggle and telling me to apply for civil service jobs which r so hard to get into.
i find it hard near impossible as a non nt to get a job a hr foid straight up rejected me cas she said i dont speak alot even though i answered her questions concisely and eloquently did the same in a previous interview and got the job. its just a matter of if they like you fuck the job hiring process i would have been great at the job

Part time work seems like the ideal solution but it's difficult to find. 12hr shifts seem alright since you get more days off but I couldn't even cope with 10.
You won't make enough with it, unless you are content with living in some roadside tent or shack.

No, I'm still a student. Although progressing very slowly.
What are you studying? i'm only in college because of my parents selfish whims.

Mech engineering. Although I've been downwards spiraling a lot in classes and then ending up dropping them. Wasted so much money doing that and am years behind. But I don't intend to ever give it up completely, because then I'd have to go into hiding from my family.

Working all day and NEETing all day is the same. The only thing I disliked about being a NEET is the shame aspect. When family would come over, I'd go to the library because I couldn't say "I'm unemployed". Society does a good job at making us pitiful slaves who also mock each other for not being a good enough slave.
NEETing with money is ideal but things are changing now anyway so it's impossible unless you're living off investments

I meant if you live with parents. Think you can claim benefits while working part time in UK as well

It really does take a toll on you, your degree means shit if you lack networking and basic interpersonal skills which are likely underdeveloped due to years of consistent rotting. Do you have much friends or acquaintances in college to keep you sane? because I got no one irl

I was told it was one of the most broad degrees out there. I hope that doesn't turn out to be cope. I really don't struggle with comprehending material. It's just that I get cortisol spikes from being in that environment and oversleep a lot, therefore missing a bunch of classes and tests, and being so behind on the material which is often lecture exclusive, and at that point I decide it's over and drop the class.

I feel this at work when people say 'are you gonna do overtime next week?' and if I say no there is a disapproving look to their face.

Not managers. Just other slaves. I think it's because they have to and if I say I don't have to then they get jealous.

Tbh neeting is only good in short bursts. It gets old fast but working is torture too.

Watch you have been a classmate or former peer of mine, you have very likely seen me around before. I bike & walk around alot keeping in mind that 95% of residents here drive, so I stand out and am somewhat "known".

I don't think I even live in your state. I never even revealed the state I live in, just that I live in North East U.S. Unless @KARENIN used his giga-deductive abilities to figure it out.

Yeah that narrows it down to a select few states & districts, you either live around NYC or DC considering all the asians live there. Karenin knows you much more than I do so he very likely was spot on about your location, but i'm not badgering you to reveal it if you dont want.

@KARENIN is a CCP spook so he knows more about us then we know about ourselves

I prefer working over neeting nowadays. If it wasn't for the commute and amount of working hours(It's 9 to 6 , if it was 9 to 4/5 , would be a huge plus). I like having some money and i'm rebuilding my social life. Being at home can be unbearable with my disabled mother at times

Working was terrible when I briefly tried it out. What makes the NEET life shit is this (in this specific order I'd argue)

1. No/bad finances that contribute to worrying about the future.
2. Physically unhealthy. Sedentary lifestyle, shit diet, poor sleep. Drug addiction adding to the fuel. If your body feels like shit, your mind will.
3. Family members that are a pain, if you're in a bad financial state you have to bear with it.
4. No human connections. No friends, no gf.
5. No entertaining/meaningful goals, so every day becomes a mesh of the previous day, even if the goals are simply getting max level in an MMO, having a goal and a sense of progression adds a lot of spice to life.

The NEET life is a blessing, only so few people will be able to do it, even fewer can with minimal worries. It can be a curse if you sit inside all day rotting, gooning, consuming goyslop and SSRIs, repeating the same repetitive and monotonous days like clockwork like a prisoner. For a lot of people, unless they're lucky, they won't really get any chance to live a laidback NEET lifestyle unless they get on neetbux or have wealthy family members. The only other path at that point is to embody Diogenes in spirit, become as anti-materialistic as possible and cutting your desire down progressively over time for the pleasures of the world.

I'm slowly going mad while being a neet at 22 years old. But the idea of working some minimum wage slave job and waking up at 6am (impossible for me, I sleep during days and i am awake during nights) sounds about as bad if not worse than being a neet.
Fuck socializing with people, fuck waking up early. I hate talking to people.

I agree wholeheartedly Lain senpai. Neetdom isn't the problem. The problem is being poor, mentally ill, LDARing because you have no other interests or hobbies to pursue. Of course if you don't know what to do with your time and can't enjoy copes anymore spinning the hamster wheel can give you a sense of progression and distract you from reality. But is someone really going to argue that participating in the rat race system is better than doing what you truly like doing being relaxed without the endless stress 24/7? I swear I would NEET till death, withdrawing myself from society and its problems if it was sustainable in the long run.

This is kinda crazy . . . But what if . . . You're not actually trapped in your room? What if you can . . . Wait for it . . . Leave it???? 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀

No one likes worrying about being homeless or finances or the guilt or the mental issues that cause being NEET, NOT actually being neet. A neet who has an income from nothing is a trust fund kid and they're definitely not depressed lol

Its 8 billion times worse than being neet. The depression is still there but now you add the constant fucking anxiety of having to work to it its hell. People mistakenly think theyre less depressed when they work when probably they just are too focused on the shitty constant anxious buzz of having to work

What the actual fuck does working makes you sleep better than being NEET? Lmao. You can literally sleep as long as you want when neet this is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. I hopefully dont even have to mention why work annihilates your sleep lmao.

The only problems inherent in neetdom here are 1 and 3. The rest are easily in your control lol. Its what i just said , the mental issues that cause being NEET are the problem, not actually being NEET. And a lot of those issues are caused by the hellish inhuman capitalist system.

If we were socialist the UBI wud solve the guilt, homelessness, having to live with toxic family. And that wud free us up from stress so we cud actually work on things we wanted to, like doing our own ventures

This. People just dont notice the monotony of work cuz they expect it not to be fun. You can replicate this while Neet by doing "unfun" things that are productive. Mine was cleaning and going on walks. And learning

Yea so basically being neet is still infinitely better lol. Problem is cuz ur not working u think life will be infinite pleasure when thats just not how the mind works. Its like letting the kids eat the whole candy bag on halloween then getting sick and them using that to say candy is bad

I think you misunderstood, I was talking about what makes the quality of life as a NEET shit, like if you're sleeping 4 hours a night spending all day gooning, you're going to feel like trash as a NEET. I wasn't promoting working. I love being a NEET but a lot of NEETs that don't love being NEETs don't like the lifestyle for obvious reasons: poor, no bitches, shit family life, diet of high fructose corn syrup, obese or lanky, no muscle tone, no real hobbies. Of course you'll feel miserable like that, being a NEET gives you a lot of time to fix these things though, though it isn't easy.

You have literally no obligations as a neet . . . Why sleep 4 hours a night???? 🤣 Nigga wat

And the part about muscles . . . You actually have time to work on that stuff when not slaving away 24/7 lol. Not even sure what to say on that part.

The only inherent part about being neet is the no bitches part. Especially LTR with high tier girls, a lot of incels dont wanna admit they require someone successful. U cud still slay short term tho if ur hot
