Bethesda games aren't for story. The only Bethesda game that I think has a good story (and I haven't played it) is Morrowind. Morrowind seemed to have an interesting story.
Oblivion, Skyrim, and the Bethesda fallout games all have shitty stories.
However, I don't play Bethesda games for the story. I play Bethesda games to kill NPCs and discover dungeons. (Something Skyrim perfected imo)
Idk how people call Bethesda trash and then claim GTA is better. Skyrim is far more interesting than GTA.
Even stranger is people praising BOTW over Skyrim.
Does BOTW have better traversal? Yes. Does BOTW have an interesting world? No. The world in BOTW looks like a Fortnite version of Windows wallpaper.
What makes BOTW inferior to Skyrim is the lack of exploration rewards. You don't get interesting dungeons. You get copy-and-paste kindergarten puzzles and a good boss if you're lucky. Skyrim actually rewards you for exploration with interesting content.
Now I'm not saying that new Bethesda games are good. StarField and Fallout 4 are both shit and extremely dumbed down.
But Skyrim gets far more hate than it deserves. Especially when as previously stated, people hype up far more shallow games. Not to mention the amazing mod support Skyrim has which basically prevents it from ever being boring.
