Discussion Is hatred for neets largely due to the "protestant work ethic"?

It seems the majority of the userbase here is from the US or northwest europe, where the whole concept of "protestant work ethic" would apply

It's seems people from these regions tend to problematize being a neet more, and feel more alienated and disenfranchised by it

Ethnic shitskin heritages are a mixed bag but in America bring thrifty, hustling 24/7 is seen as a mark of your worth and taking neetbux is seen as cowardly and weak

What do you guys think? It is a relatively international forum. Is the extreme disdain for neets more common in america/NW europe based on reactions from your communities? It seems my more americanized relatives shun neetdom more

this, pretty much. If you do not want to work 9 to 5 you are basically seen as lazy. It's also funny how some parents force their children to pay rent to live with them or force them out without any support. It's beyond ridiculous to me

also leeching off your parents is perceived negatively because people assume that you doing this shows that you lack certain traits of a 'good' adult - personal responsibility, maturity, etc. The same applies to neetceldom in general perhaps

just like old virgins are shamed for their virginity - they fail to meet certain social expectations and are seen as immature and inferior

Hatred for NEETs is hilarious because even the most socialist, soy, anti work and capitalism/corporation Redditors will sperg out at NEETs, saying NEETs are all losers, leeches, scum, etc

I at least get it with conservatives who have this survival of the fittest individualistic ethos all about “earning your own keep” and “being a man” or whatever, even if they are still cucks

I think it’s just quite literally that most normies have shitty 40+ hour work weeks with terrible pay and bosses, and still barely live paycheck to paycheck. They fucking hate their jobs and spend half their lives paying off debt, but they just accept it as something they have to do. Then they see NEETs rotting at home, never working and having a leisurely life until they die, and it naturally messes with their brain.

The idea of work being a virtue is something that’s necessary for soyciety to function, east Asia is a very good example of this because of the contrast between the 100+ hour work weeks where you put the company above yourself and the high prevalence of NEETs/complete societal dropouts

But anyway, people get fed this lie, and ultimately, most normies need someone to look down on. Most normies talk about work giving them a sense of satisfaction, but none really have any accomplishments: they do the same shit everyone else does. They’re bossed around by Jews, get paid like shit, and are generally disrespected and looked down on. They want someone to take out their anger on, and who’s a better target than the guys who don’t work at all?

I noticed this with my FOB african background vs american blacks

My mom's attitude was always she supported me, not the other way around. She'd always pay me back for money I "lent" her even though she gave me the money to begin with and I told her it was fine. I didn't need it. She always said I'll move out whenever I get on my own two feet and there wasn't a specific age mark because in our culture back home, family communal living is the normal

Whereas I've heard of American blacks getting kicked out before graduating high school. Having to pay for their own meals and clothes etc

Somewhat true but its not like ethnics can just mooch off their family all day while doing jack shit in return. I have cousins who still live with their parents well into their 20s but they still work or have some goals to work toward, if you just mooch off your parents it will be a very poor look and get you judged.

Are you supposed to have a Catholic work ethic instead?
Kinda. Protestantism has an extreme pessimism towards human nature. Far more than Catholics

Calvinist specifically believe in predestination, you are either predestined or damned. Although they hold strictly to "salvation by faith and not works". You have to prove you were of strong faith by working hard, otherwise maybe you were a fraud. It's a sociological concept you see in America. The worship of the thrifty businessman, even if the culture is now secular

Whereas is catholic countries, you go to mass perform the rituals and you're good man, don't worry about it. It's okay to sleep in for siesta and live with mommy and daddy till 30. Human beings are inherently good anyway bro. No need to prove you're elect

I'm for whatever helps us get our neetbux but the idea of socialism being the pro neet ideology has some issues

It's based around the labor theory of value. The capitalist is maligned because he works less but gets paid more than his wagies

Within this framing, the neet can be seen as a lazy bum because he's collecting neetbux and not working. The way they want it, you work hard but are more fairly compensated by "owning the means of production". It's counter intuitive but ultimately they worship work

I like this book. The authors parents were communists and he goes into how moralizing commies can be sometimes

Yes, plus the Afterworldwar period the richest, fairest, hedonistic and most stable period where everyone could live a comfortable live by working, and the hard work was worth the Pain. Not anymore but boomers havent caught up to that.

No

Every society from the dawn of civilization till the present has always hated free loaders

So instead of describing yourself as a neet, describe yourself with some independent non-paying occupation, like writer, musician, artist, poet etc

Keep up the appearance that you are actually working for the betterment of everyone

That's what I've been doing lately. If anyone is asking just tell them I have a remote job to avoid all the 'ahhs' and 'hows'.
