Comfy Lain is overrated anime

heard so many good things about this crap. Yeah maybe it was way ahead of it's time but i'm disappointed. I'm halfway trough it but i can't continue anymore. I like to watch my slops when i'm bonesmashing with my two hands. But man 'serial experiment Lain' is so boring. It's like watching 'Texnolyze' with that autistic little girl as mc. But at least 'texnolyze' had some interesting plot, with good action and a decent mc.
Maybe i'll finish it someday but rn i'm watching "call of the night". FIrst 3eps was just mc and his vampire girl (real baddie) talking about sucking blood and falling in love. Ik pretty boring but still more fun to watch than lain.

Not going to lie I haven't watched Serial Experiments Lain
I typically don't watch older shows even though I'm a big Trigun fanboy.

Different strokes for different folks. If there's a specific group of people that should enjoy Lain though, it should be terminally online NEETs more than any other group. The show is her sense of self being fragmented from being in so many different online spaces, the feeling of being isolated despite being surrounded by people (online), the search for meaning when there just doesn't seem to be one. I love Lain because I can relate to Lain, the points it tries to make, if you can't do either, I suppose it's just a weird show that's all over the place.

I never finished call of the night, I only watched an episode and found it somewhat painful to continue watching. I'm not sure why, something about the characters interactions felt off and it felt a bit cringe. I don't agree with what OP says, I love Lain and I've rewatched it several times. Not gonna diss OP though, that's just different tastes in media.

Call of the Night was ruined the moment it was decided that it would be animated by "Liden Films" instead of Kyoto Animation and anyone that rated Serial Experiments Lain higher than a 6 pontificated.
