Probably manufactured outrage to serve as a marketing strategy in this fresh new attention economy.
Possibly DEI cultural zeitgeist enshittification, possibly targeted defamation to make a not-particularly-profitable game about personal freedoms uncool so that you play more profitable consumer slop that relies on railing you with microtransactions and inflated pricing.
Really though, the saddest thing is that this is the safest bet. From a corporate standpoint it makes sense - draws attention by being a fun family romp with blasé comedic notes and an inoffensive, predictable plotline. It appeals to kids by being obnoxious, frenetic and unserious. It appeals to millennials by including figures like Jack Black and Momoa. Only a die-hard niche will be disappointed; that's not who the movie is for, though. Who cares really, lol.
