Sharia laws can work but as you said it's a matter of perspective. Western Muslims who have never seen a mosque in their life would shit themselves in an actual Sharia system but can live fairly decently in the gulf. Gulf Muslims who have to deal with it nonstop would find Europe heaven but still be very uncomfortable with the liberal values of people there. The balance is a semi-secular state like Jordan but that only works if you're filthy rich otherwise the shitskin mentality becomes evident and Sharia law is pushed by families on their children and society at large rather than the actual government. The most hardcore Muslims you'll meet are Syrians and that country barely has a government. It's because they're poor

Türkiye tried but Muslim countries are run by high T monarchs so we still practice it. Most Muslim majority countries are secular on paper but practice Sharia among each other anyway. Pakistan is legally secular but Pakistanis are some of the most extreme Muslims out there
