Online gambling (in Britain and no doubt in many other nations) is a scam

Aside from the fact that the vast majority of gamblers lose money, even if you win more money than you lose the bookies will eventually suspend your account, without needing to provide any justification and probably confiscating your account balance. I partook in online sports gambling for just over a year, researched my subjects extensively and made just under £2000 on net placing relatively infrequent bets (roughly once every two weeks) but three weeks ago, multiple online bookmakers suspended my accounts, with one of the accounts holding about £250. Despite my best efforts, I have not had any success thus far in getting my money back. Even if I get my money back at some point, the time and energy required, as well as the stress incurred, have made online gambling more trouble than it's worth.

In theory gambling, especially online gambling, would be a good way for certain NEETs to supplement their NEETbux. Unfortunately bookmakers are borderline criminal entities that are also protected by the government. I advise people not to gamble but if you must, use traditional betting shops rather than gambling websites where the bookies have total power over your account.

I used to gamble a lot, especially in arm wrestling. I broke my arm doing it so I stopped gambling entirely for years. Never again.

I used to bet on mma fights and actually won a 7 leg parlay turning 5€ into 170€:feelsok:.
Tried to log into my account a few weeks later and it wouldnt let me in (used the same login data as always, was even saved in the browser). Then my account was suspended for too many login tries. Fortunately I cashed that money out before that happened otherwise it would be all gone. It happened with bet365:feelsree:

You used wrong service providers. Matchbook is a website where you place bets against other bettors. It's a bet exchange, not a casino where you play against the house.

Matchbook is a peer-to-peer betting exchange designed for smart bettors who want more value. Offering deep liquidity and low commissions, Matchbook returns maximum value to bettors.
On Matchbook, bettors find better odds, a clean and easy-to-use betting interface, and helpful customer support.

Betfair is a similar service. They have been around for longer and have more liquidity, but it's ultimately a scam site. They have spent lots of money trying to shill their online casino that has better margins for them. And Betfair has high service fees for regular winners. Bettors who win a lot and often pay a fee around 20 % from their profits. Of course, high rollers who provide more liquidity to the bet exchange can negotiate lower fees.

From time to time. But rarely on sports. Tv, entertainment, politics etc. because it's not possible to calculate true probabilities for events that can happen only once unlike idk. many sports related bets.

all forms of gambling, everywhere in the world, always has been a scam

this is supposed to be a common knowledge
Apparently 89% of gamblers lose money. If even approximately true, gambling doesn't qualify as a pure scam as it's very possible to win if you're in the top 11%. But online bookmakers are shady asf and will look to can you + steal your balance if they don't regard you as being a mark long-term.

gambling your life for what ? for the mere illusion of success
a success that's most likely will never see the light of day
chasing the adrenaline kick that traps you into the phantasm of progress
when in reality it's going down the hill

Update: it took them just over 3 weeks but the bookies did finally cough up. I'm still banned with several of them but at least they didn't rob me of my balance.

Anyone that gambles is stupid unless he knows his shit which is like 5 years of experience. Anyone who gambles online is a literal retard. I think there is a website by the UK authorities about reporting online scams. https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
