Anyone here has experiences from being on a psych ward? Maybe heard of someone speak about their experiences?

One certain way of NEETing in my country is to go on a psych ward, where all my needs are being provided. I also heard that its pretty unlimited in terms of time, so I could practically live there for life. I think its worth it because I have very bad depression. To the point where I'm having nightmares almost everynight and hear the same voices from my nightmares when I'm awake, so maybe I dont have to act or anything because I sorta qualify

Ive been thinking about this for a while and at this point ive made up my mind and I am going. But im so scared and idk why. Ive been doing the same thing for years and am already used to my daily habits and the change of the psych ward freaks me out.

Any advice?

Is it like an asylum or something? Yeah why not. At least you can make some friends there maybe

From what I have heard it is pretty traumatic all over the world.
I don't know where you live, I don't see how this could be free.
You most likely won't have access to a computer/your phone.
I think they will aim at having you take medication and then throw you out.
Also, people in there are all lunatics, not the greatest friends or anything.
It has to be pretty boring, and you might lose some of your rights depending on your country.

This is very weird, but I heard this trope many times. It seems that asylums are the best places to find friends if you're an outcast.

I thought about going to such a place, but it seems that realistically it's more likely to be a hellish experience. In general the underpaid staff doesn't care, they just tell you to take your medication, go to your meme therapy session (which is led by a therapist who doesn't care about you) and hush. People find friends there, because you're more likely to find interesting people there, but the asylum experience itself is generally described as horrible. I'd be fine with following orders if it was genuinely in my best interest, but that doesn't seem to be the case with asylums. I'd be also very worried about the staff taking my dietary restrictions into account and allowing me to use internet (well, if the people were actually nice and the staff provided other forms of entertainment like, I don't know, board games, physical books, TV with a movie library stored in the form of physical media instead of streaming etc. I could go with that, internet detox could do wonders to me and I only use it, because I'm understimulated, but I'm afraid of being left in a room with crazy people and completely no copes).

I've been 6 times. It's a complete joke. You have to go to "group" every morning, write a goal for the day, everyone shares theirs, then we did "group" stuff like how to better handle our emotions, what caused us to be in there, etc. We couldn't watch TV, use the internet, can't even have fucking caffeine. You also get to see a psych once a day to talk about your situation, they'll usually diagnose you with some shit, everyone in their, all 6 times, were mainly attention-seeking women or guys talking about their girlfriends. They form cliques in their, too. It was like I was teleported back to high school. I was even made fun of by some, the nurses don't give a FUCK. At the end of the day, you gather back and share if you met your goal for the day. After your psych thinks you're "better" you get released with an exit interview with some nurse, they ask you about if you learned anything, etc. If anyone wants to know more, just ask. I'm really groggy still.

it sucked. most people there NTmogged me and the beds were hard as stone. there were some interesting people there, but i never talked at length with anyone. the biggest lifefuel was the yogurt and peanut butter given out during snack time, sometimes i would take a cup of peanut butter to my room.
basically what everyone else in the thread has already stated, meme therapy, no internet, etc. oddly enough the ward i was in did allow caffeinated coffee at breakfast. i'd say the most interesting thing that happened was some guy going ER with a pair of scissors and stabbing himself in the throat immediately afterwards. oh, and some crazy foid pissed in the cafeteria floor while everyone was in there.

We had one guy get into the ceiling trying to escape. Took the police to get him out of there.

Don't schizophrenia and depression often cohabit?
But yeah, voices is most likely not depression, it can be multiple things and I'm sure the only way to calm it is through medication.
I know some are against meds, I'm quite in favour myself.

the "funny farm" is one of the worst experiences you can have
If you've high visual and auditory hallucinations then you don't even need to be voluntary to get there, you will certainly end there and there are relates of abuse of all sorts

worse than pills are injections. In seconds your entire homeostasis will be fucked up and the duration is chronic not only due to the long half life of the drug in be completely out of your system but to your body restore/come back to its normal functioning

depression is just a reflection of what your life is. schizophrenia is way deeper than that

I've been voluntarily committed three times. The first time I had absolutely no idea what to expect and was totally naïve. I thought I could just check myself in and chill in a literal padded room by myself for a few days, and then would let me out. It turns out they prescribe you medication, diagnose you with whatever the fuck they feel like, force you to attend group meetings, and if you show any resistance they will keep you there for a month like I did.

The subsequent times I just checked myself in because I needed a break, followed the rules, and they let me out in a few days. I must also have gotten lucky because the food was actually pretty good in all the places I've been, and I'm an extremely picky eater.

My friend was in something like that but got released because I and his parents smuggled in cola for him. When he got out he had awful withdrawal symptoms that he willingly ended up continuing the medication that was first forced upon him. He is now around 10 years after a tall and handsome 31-year-old virgin because of his mental state. He is a NEET who has sliced his wrists many times AFTER he got out. I don't see him anymore, he supposedly is into gardening in his parent's backyard but is medicated into full zombie mode so he wouldn't kill himself.
As one user before said, "This is the biggest Jews you can get".
