It's one of my favorite anime series, I wouldn't really compare it fairly to harem anime or even romance, as he doesn't get a harem and romance isn't a big theme even in Bakemomogatari. It's a weird supernatural anime with great art and character development, with weird themes and it's own feeling to it. I'd rate the series a 10/10 myself so I can't recommend it more myself.
You can start at Bakemomogatari or Kizu, I'd recommend Kizu, it's canonically the first (story wise) and the animation and art is peak. It's much easier to get into the series watching the movies I believe. If you don't like the first movie, no point in continuing it, but I think you will.

Just so you know, the trilogy of Kizumonogatari is nothing like Bakemonogatari and going forward. The art direction, choice of music, and pacing makes sense for the noir aesthetic they try going for but the essence of Monogatari is also there. It's probably my favorite after Owarimonogatari 2nd Season and you'll come to appreciate the way Nisio Ishin makes subtle references to moments in past seasons throughout the series, even more so if you have great memory like I do.
This scene pretty much sums up the fast-paced, whimsical, and witty nature of the TV series. If you thought it was funny you'll most likely enjoy everything else about Monogatari, especially the characters. They're well-written and individuated while also intentionally playing into tropes from time to time
