Discussion So how much Japanese have you picked up because of anime?

It surprises me that so many weebs speak zero Japanese. I picked up so many phrases in different languages from simply growing up in multicultural cities. You get weebs who have watched 1000 animes who still comprehend zero Japanese.

I've watched 1040 anime and spent 2 months learning Japanese, using raw anime as a way to learn with reading Japanese subs while learning kanji on the side, I was around an N4 level before I stopped. Before I tried to learn, I could follow what was going on with no subs if I was looking away from the screen and had no context, which is an odd thing because I couldn't write kanji at all and only knew a few basic words. After 2 months of learning there's a handful of phrases and sentences burned into my brain that I auto translate into English in my brain which is cool.
