I often find myself talking to a lot of people when going outside to do errands. A simple drive to the store is usually quiet and quick with no hassle. But lately I get in situations where people make small talk to me as well as start conversations with others by myself when I have the confidence to do so.
I'm usually awkward when it comes to normal day-to-day topics people talk on a regular but I feel more engaged in what they say rather than dismiss it and say some boring reply like, "that's terrible/awesome, well I better be going now".
I wish I wasn't so awkward when it comes to talking to people. Sometimes I feel some sort of obligation to keep the conversation going even when I don't know what to say next or tell them I got bored and now I want to stop.
I admire some of the .net users here, they talk and talk without a care in the world and socialize pretty easily with others even when the thread is mainly full of nonsensical gibberish. (Literally) I see threads where I want to comment on but get nervous on what to type and ultimately just leave a like and move on even when I am knowledgeable on the subject.

But argh! It pains me thinking about whatever I say is going to come out the wrong way and then I feel like I screwed up leading to me wanting to my bury my face into my shirt and walk away. We're humans it's natural and a necessity to interact with others out of our comfort zone otherwise we never learn.
The odd ball always sticks out:
Anyways TL;DR just wanted to ask if you guys socialize or not in the real world or make connections on the web. Looks and personality play a significant role I guess. But not so much when you're online for that matter.
I suppose being a neet does take a toll on your social awareness hehe...
