I usually ate flatbread with some homemade soups and shawarma if I couldn't afford anything else. Otherwise just fries and pasta. Meat is available but it's somewhat expensive and you'll only find chicken in large numbers. It is indeed dangerous but only in the city. If you go to a small town it's whatever
