Me personally I would rather work in an african cobalt mine with a heavy iron prison ball chained at my feet, than to work a 9-5 office job ever again.

I'm 100% serious here. I've experienced both physical very demanding jobs and office environments. The most physical demanding job I did in my life was for an industrial cleaning firm working in switched off steel mills. It was fucking brutal. I had to get up at 4.30 in the morning for it. With shovels in our hands we had to go inside the big steel mill furnaces and clean them. But the other co-workers were alright, lots of them were probably all kinds of -cels. They did their work and kept quiet during lunch break. Thats it, hard work but no drama. But having said all that maybe it all depends on the people around you. You can also get unlucky working with real psychopaths doing physical work.

My office job experience on the other hand was making me extremely depressed and even suicidal at the end. All the socialisation, small talk, mental games, psychological warfare, bullying, group-building, never ending phone calls, extroverted clowns...it was all so disgusting. Also keep in mind that office and desk jobs actually bring LOTS of health problems like back problems, cardiovascular problems, mental problems, weight problems etc.

Gun to the head: if you were forced to choose one, what would you choose? What are your experiences?

Here are all the jobs I've done. Estate agent, call centre, gym reception, retail and delivery.
Worst one I did was the call centre. Holy shit, I'd come back home stressed asf and I could barely sleep at night because I'd be stressed about the next day.
I'd choose physically demanding jobs any day of the week if I was a little strong but I'm a weak ass framlet so I'm stuck with these jobs unless I learn a skill

I have opposite experience. In the past I have worked in warehouses, stocked shelves at shops etc. I would never want to return to those shit tier jobs ever again. Coworkers there were always low class drunkards and other scum, I could not relate to them at all. 90% of conversations would be about what kind of retarded thing they did last weekend while drunk.

On the other hand, office job was comfy. I could just be anti social autist and noone minded it. People never bothered me, there was barely any office drama. The quality of people there was WAY higher, more polite and less cringe drunkard bullshit.

I might sound like privileged snob, but low class people are fucking insufferable especially 30-50 aged males that usually work these physical labor jobs.

physical work the people are nicer and the time goes by faster

Days literally dragged on forever, remember checking clock all the time and almost noone was nice there.

I dislike both but office would be worse. I don't have experience of it but I think it would be just like school was with the sitting down all day and being around females too. The thing about offices too is that they would be much quieter than factories so there is no escape from the socialising and the bullying. I would have a horrific time in a little office. They just aren't built for socially inept autists like me.

Also men who work in offices are usually beta boys who love drama. High T men in factories aren't good either but the office men probably would be worse to you over all.

True. Especially small open offices are a nightmare. Had that experience myself, sitting between extroverted normies behind and in front of you. They will judge everything you do. Having your own private office room where only you have a desk would be much better.

What I dreaded the most were the lunch breaks for the office job. Thats where all the social games, mind games, small talk bullshit is at its best. They talk about their newest car, about sports, about their next vacation plans. And then its your turn because you were quiet the whole time: Everyone stares at you, suddenly it gets quiet in the room. Now talk. God, its pure hell.

Meanwhile during the lunch break for the steel mill job, all the co-workers were calm and quiet. Here and there someone mumbled something but thats it.

I take lunch in my car, i refuse to put myself through lunch breaks with others. I made that mistake in the past, these people aren't going to thank you for taking lunch with them.

Interesting, you bring up some good points there. But seems like you were very lucky with your office job when it comes to socialisation, work environment, co-workers. In a lot of small or medium sized agencies even the IT/tech/nerds sit in small open office rooms. And even they have to do lots of phone calls doing client support.

Even the nerds have to be social butterflies nowadays. They cant hide themselves like they used to. Maybe more in big corporations working in a cubicle or if you are some professional you get your own private office.

True, also I applied for some code monkey jobs and one start up that I applied for had literal chads and women in the "meet the team" section of their website. Long gone are the days where only ugly manlets would escape into the world of IT. Literally, any Stacy can do a few Udemy courses and still get hired just because she has 20k followers on IG.

Had both types of jobs. I also had more difficulty in office settings because the time would drag on and the work you were doing was absolutely soul crushing, boring type chit. At least with physical labor jobs you get a workout, I actually got quite fit working a a few of those jobs.

If you are not NT, and work an office job, that can be even more tiring because you are tasked with socializing about nonsense and constantly on your toes to fit in. If you do not show a smile and laugh or relate to other peeps problems, you will be outcast.

You can keep your mind occupied while doing physical work, but you can't keep your body occupied while doing mental work.
However, it's easier to replenish your ability to do mental work, and you can train yourself so that it improves. If you're done physically, you're done, and pushing yourself more will ruin you for the next day.

I worked as a dishwasher for 3 years and 6 months. I also had other dishwasher jobs throughout my 20s. It’s fun I guess, but my mental illness of schizophrenia pissed a lot of people off due to talking to myself. Weirdly had girls like me. But I quit due to extremely intense suicidal ideations. Now I walk for SweatCoin and do online surveys. I’m on ssdi but I feel bad having it because it’s boring not to work sometimes. But I think I can do computer work later and get rid of it if this community doesn’t mind

Damn, seems like you had to go through a lot in your life. I'm sorry to hear that. Yes the socializing with normies was the biggest problem for me too. But hey at least you are on ssdi, lots of neets would kill to have that. Maybe try to bring more structure in your day like go for a walk three times a week or start to work out. Then you will enjoy your copes more.
I "only" have depression and avoidant personality disorder which makes me a failed normie at best. I'm doomed to live a life of seasonal neeting. Currently I'm permanently working from home which compared to my previous jobs is a gift straight from heaven.
