The Scoville Scale is a measurement which records the level of spiciness found in chilli peppers. Originally devised in 1912 and named after its creator Wilbur Scoville, an American pharmacist, the scale measures the level of capsaicin concentration found in a chilli, capsaicin being the chemical responsible for it's hotness. Measured in Scoville Heat Units or SHU, the highest recorded chilli pepper is 'Pepper X' which comes in at around almost 2.7 million SHU.

Are you a fan of spicy food? How far up do you think you'd be able to reach on the Scoville Scale?

I'm a fan of spicy food, in terms of enjoyment, I find habanero to be spicy but not too spicy, just about the perfect level of spice. I've tried Carolina reaper sauce and my face went red and my eyes watered up, I was spending the next day on the toilet regretting the decision. Yet, a couple of days later, I did it again. I wanted to desensitize myself to it. A somewhat similar pattern happened (painful shitting) but I kept putting the sauce on food and eventually became somewhat desensitized to it.

It still would hurt my stomach and is too spicy to enjoy. I did it as some sort of masculine bravado to see how far I can push myself against discomfort, it was very stupid and one of the reasons why men die sooner than woman.

It's absolute bullshit. Companies use scovilles for marketing.

It has nothing to do with how spicy your sauce is actually going to be.

One fresh habanero is way spicier than any scorpion sauce.

I have a really low tolerance for spicy food tbh. I hate the sensation of it.
