If you want a street smart German, go for Oswald Spengler. He's a no-bullshit guy. Ethnics - deported, ethnic countries - colonized, England - destroyed.

One of the first "philosophy authors" I picked up was Lev Shestov, Russian Jewish writer sperging out on religious matters and alternatingly going through Thomas Aquinas and Dante Alighieri. He was famous at the time and reportedly talked with Heidegger, Husserl, Bataille (but could be Jewish bragging). And while he managed to part ways with the Soviet Union, an achievment in itself, he started as a socialist agitator.

He had books about Nietszhe among other things.
