Discussion What exactly is a person supposed to do if they don't have the hard working gene and are thus lazy?

I am lazy, and it has pretty much ruined my life. There is stuff I would like to accomplish but I am literally incapable of putting in the work. I have already talked to therapists, I have tried stuff from the internet, nothing works, I just can't focus on a single task for more than 20 minutes without getting distracted and procrastinating. I need to change, otherwise I am going to fail this semester hard, I haven't done any of the homework I was supposed to have done weeks ago. How do I get myself to work hard? Especially if it's shit I really really don't want to do???

Suck it up
I can't. I have to change. Either I have changed before 30 or I'll give a blowjob to a shotgun.

There was a user here that was shooting low doses of meth to cope with ADHD, ADHD drugs are just central nervous system stimulants with "benign" side effects - amphetamines repackaged and sold to medicine trusting parents.

In NEET Coders community, it was mentioned that US students are on drugs, they call these drugs "nootropics" and form groups to share experience, here's one on Reddit. But what they take is not nootropics, they just shoot regular stimulants like modafinil.

A large segment of transhumanism movement was brought to life by deformed incels gobbling up random experimental drugs and they are the original source for what young Americans are up to.

Look at his guy going by "R.U. Sirius", he was living in the movie "Limitless" since the early 90s:
Rusirius

I myself don't take any drugs, I just observe live experiments on monkeys. Some of these monkeys are violent, the guys that staged the terror attack in Russia were on Coptagon, another amphetamine derivative produced in Syria "by ISIS".

Part of me wants to try out drugs since is the only thing I haven't tried, but also I am a little scared of it, I think I'll talk to my therapist to see if he can prescribe me some stimulants.

I have the same problem as you and took adderall but it didn’t help. Maybe it makes a small positive difference but it’s hard to tell. Just letting you know so you don’t rely on it to save you

So if drugs are not the answer, is there anything people like us can do?

Depends on if you believe in free will or not or genetic determinism

Who knows 😔
Running consistently, having a goal, sleeping enough and waking up early, and some other normie advice helped for me, but it’s not like just because I say this you’ll start doing those. I still slip up and stop doing those for periods of time as well

I believe everything we do is predetermined, if I end up becoming super productive from here on out, that was what the universe had decided was going to happen trillions of years ago. If I continue being lazy, that was also predetermined. But right now I don't know if it has been decided that'll be lazy for the rest of my life or if I can change. It has already been decided, but I don't know which one. I hope is the super productive one, but it's not looking good.

Don't worry op, I've heard laziness is associated with high iq! So it's a lifefuel!
I always hear about how lazy people are often smart, I just saw a video of a mathematician talking about how "good mathematicians" are lazy because they find clever ways to do less work and computations. But I think what they mean by lazy and what I am are two different things. By lazy they mean someone who actually puts in effort, but they do it in an efficient manner, so that the total work is not as much, but that's not what I am, I literally put no effort into anything. So yeah I don't think being actually lazy makes you a better mathematician o scientists to be honest.

I do have goals and I sleep well enough, but when it comes down to sitting down and spending 6 hours doing homework, I just can't.

Then I guess what will be will be if you want to do something then do it’s within your genetic determinism

If starting tasks isn’t a problem, but getting distracted during them is then ADHD meds could help. If you have the resources and think you might have ADHD, push through for a diagnosis

I talked with my therapist today and he didn't seem to think I have ADHD but he still suggested some pills he told me are really good for students since they help boost brain activity, so tomorrow I'll start taking that.

I don't have anyone on ignore, I don't really remember if I have replied to you before, I kind of have been pretty inactive for the last 2 months because of college.

Bruh that's food supplements. It's a multivitamin.

Normal people take that stuff through diet, by not eating goyslop.
Yeah that's what I noticed after reading the box. But I do have a shitty diet, so maybe this will help. But honestly was expecting like an actual drug, but I guess he doesn't think I need them.

Or it's more sinister than that, he gets paid to prescribe this bullshit.

I had an eye doctor that was very bent on me buying this particular brand of supplements, even though there was plenty of alternatives on the market.

I honestly wouldn't put it past them if that was the case, this is the same country where, back in highschool, teachers would force us to buy books from their friends for out literature class. We couldn't borrow the book, you needed to prove that you had bought a new copy.
