Don't give me some coomermaxxed ecchi anime that you cum to everyday like Highschool DxD. The GOAT is Evangelion in my mind no doubt. Goku solos the entire multiverse, including entire One Piece verse and that little bum from Mob Psycho 3 quadrillion. Enough of my rant, enlighten me on your pick.

none, there's a reason why serious novels/mangas for adults get live action adaptation instead of anime, even in japan anime is for teens and lonely wagies.

It's not my personal favorite but I'd choose Death Note. It's right in the middle between over the top shonen hype and the intelligent themes and plot of a thriller while being executed fairly flawlessly.
DN was the first "serious" anime I've watched and it revealed to me that the medium has more to offer than mindless shonen thrashings.

Out of the like 1000+ anime I've watched LoGH is the only one that's moved me enough to cry, though I do like Lain, this is the GOAT. The early eps are so-so but once it hits off, it's a gripping 10/10 that doesn't feel like anime at all. The character development, the soundtrack, the mature clashes of ideals, the unique perspectives of the characters, it feels like a very realistic depiction of what a massive galactic war would be like in the future. No good or evil on either side, both sides just trying to fumble their way through to the best of their abilities.

It showcases the pros and cons of countless beliefs and lets the viewer come to their own conclusions, I really like that especially about LoGH. It seems like most anime have a generic type of black and white morality setup where the creators lead the viewers to take a socially acceptable and obvious view of whatever is going on (good guy is good, bad guy is bad, obviously!) they rarely let you just soak in a variety of opinions and come to your own conclusions. The wide array of conflicting opinions and philosophies in LoGH is just like IRL, there's no proper one fit solution, people just believe in what they believe and come up with justifications later as to why they act and think the way they do and it showcases it brilliantly.

It‘s basically German Empire until 1918 Vs US in space.

Cant decide between that or death note
Monster missed the landing more than DN did.
Don't get me wrong, Ruhenheim showdown was serviceable but it felt rushed and kinda underwhelming considering all the build up.

Urasawa did this on purpose, to make him more mysterious and his few scenes more impactful. Monster is very grounded but @johan almost appears supernatural since the audience never knows what he's doing, how and why,

I wish his voice could be deeper. He sounds too twinky.

When I was younger I would've said Code Geas, I used to think it was the best anime ever made, but honestly I'm not so sure anymore, I don't even remember the plot. Right now I would probably say Hunter x Hunter or, depending on how good they end up making season 3, maybe even Re: zero, although that one is not for everyone. Some people just hate the main character for some reason I don't understand. Oh well.

Just happened to watch it recently. Super wholesome. One of the best anime I watched in a while. It NEEDS a season 2.
Based as fuck, yet to find someone who doesn't enjoy Hinamatsuri. Good comedy, good characters, good animation, everything fits really well without overexaggerating and being tiresome/repetitive.
