I don't trust recent releases honestly. A lot of them have tons of good PR but are either dogshit or incredibly stale/average. The Solo Leveling series was.... alright but probably because it's been years since I read it

some releases are still as good as ever but some's ratings are pumped up by tiktok teenagers who cant tell whats good or not and so you get baited by the MAL ratings. like Wind Breaker has 7,86 atm but its like a 3 at best idk...

It's not tiktokers it's the production committees paying journalists and advertisers. They do it all the time and sometimes exceed the production budget of the anime itself. The latest attack on titan seasons had an animation budget of a sandwich because 90% of the money went to advertising

yh scores are weighted. Which is annoying because a good series will ennd up in the 7-8 range because it’s unpopular and put in the same tier as basic trash like wind breaker
