Who Here Has Tinnitus

I just realised a few minutes ago that I have unilateral tinnitus and when researching why, I came across a study that reported 35% of people who are autistic are affected by it, too. Does anyone else here have tinnitus? It kind of depresses me because I really enjoyed true silence, so I'll probably be forced to listen to mommy ASMR and Chinese classical music for the rest of my life.

I do exactly, I'll be damned that someone else it talking about this. When I first got it I had a nervous break down, because it was terribly lowed, after time passed the sound lowered.

I don't blame you, I feel uneasy just thinking about the fact that I'll always hear ringing. It's like something out of a horror movie right before a jump scare or something.

I have it at the current moment in my left ear, started in March. I believe it is from ETD. It is fairly quiet but I hope it goes away

I suspect it was either music or machinery. What about you?
loud headphone use, it happened while I was at a family members house, that month my ear would muffle and I could not use my ear buds for a long time, after that day when I put my head phones in a terrible loud ringing came over my ears for weeks and it brought me to a suicidal and nervous place, a few weeks passed and it lowered little by little, even till this very day I still have it in both ears and I likely damaged my right ear drum, but for the most part I'm okay, I can function like normal, but the constant noise does depress me time to time.

That sounds awful. I wish your ears eventual peace and quiet.

I hope you manage to come to peace with it. Even though I don't have it as bad I always hope I'll be in complete silence again

It sucks, but I'm happy that I don't have it as bad as some do, they will have spikes, where as I don't get those, also other health issues that can come with tinnitus from what I've seen with others, thankfully I don't have them and I can live life normally with the ringing. I think that in due time it will go away but it will take a very long time.

Trust me brother, every chance you get, just remember that others will suffer of vertigo and tinnitus at the same time or visual snow, all while having this condition. I wish and pray that you'll have peace of silence again, thank you also.

I also have ear pressure in both my ears at random times and a clicking sound when I swallow
I've experienced ear pressure a handful of times, but never the clicking sound. That peculiarity reminds me of the other day when my jaw muscles intensely tightened. It was quite painful and I thought I would look like a disabled, over-bred pug for eternity.

That's a great perspective you have. There's almost always someone who has it far worse, I forget that sometimes myself. Thanks for reminding me and helping me regain gratitude.

How did you get tinnitus? If you have jaw issues could be caused by TMJD

No worries mate, in good timing, just stay away from loud noises and if you can lower it do so.

In bad periods it's louder than anything other than high-piched masking sounds (if I'm in a place where I can have them on). But thank fuck I have long periods of months - like now - when this is not so often.
Yours is of a state where you have low and loud periods basically? Odd, I don't have that same kind of state, oddly mine is very low in the morning and gets to a base level during the afternoon, even at loud places yes it will rise in level but return to base line.
In a few minutes.

Yeah it's weird; I think of it now like my other mental illnesses, which come and go to varying levels, at varying times.

To that respect, have you made any attempts to lower or cure yourself of this affliction?

Yes, like with OCD and other mental illness, by a life of 'self-medicating' (alcoholism). But I've been sober for a while now (although this will always be a big trigger).
If I understand you, is alcohol a trigger or do you refer something else?
