I really don't understand how such shitty manga got so popular, its just gore with a crnge ass story. Is this what passes for good anime/manga these days. I tried reading it and watching the anime to see what the hype was about.

Honestly it is shit, really disgusting with all the gore. Wtf is wrong with people who like this?

Do people relate to the incel protagonist or something? I just don't see the appeal in this.

i stopped reading at that aquarium date chapter because protag is foid, and the whole story became a little stale for me to keep up with.

I finished watching this anime recently and I think it's pretty Meh overall. I almost clicked off it a few times, but the intrigue of the Gun Devil kept me going. My biggest gripe is the unnecessary shock value of certain scenes. I don't mind dark humor, lewdness, but some of the episodes were just cringe trying to push boundaries with little to no relevance to the plot.
Speaking of that, Denji's coomerism gets real old real quick. "Hurr durr, I wanna fug Makima and touch some boobs, hurr durr." Look dude, I wanna fuck Makima and touch some tits too, but I don't center my entire personally around it. Get a grip nigga.
The last half of the season is really good I think. It gets really dark and sinister. It has really good focus and cuts out the static.
As for the fight scenes and gore, I didn't think it was too over the top. To be honest, the fight scenes remind me of old school Mortal Kombat Fatalities. There were times where I was waiting for a voice to shout "Finish him!" in the background lol.
But yeah I can't recommend it. The storytelling is too scattered.

Chainsawman is a manga actually, The anime came out year or two after the OG manga got so popular in Japan.
Since there are already lot of profits expected from making anime adaptation they put lot of money into making anime.
Like having different OP song for each episode with very popular artist from Japan.
That's the slop zoomers like.

Fire Punch is the good manga this author made that never got adaptation.
