Discussion Why forums go to shit and the founder effect

Rather than just complain about why is or org is shit mindlessly, here are my thoughts on why they're shit

In population genetics, the founders effect describes how breakaway groups tend to move towards reduced genetic diversity

The same thing tends to happen to internet groups like is. We break off from the mainstream due to unorthodox views like the blackpill. And there usually is alot of interesting debate and discussion at first but over time, the community sees reduced diversity and became 99% the same aspies saying the same shit

The only way to keep things interesting is to periodically inject new ideas and people into the community. I believe here tends to have this and this why there isn't a de facto status quo

With is and org they are small groups. One or two people can't rock the boat but here, people like neetgod karenin or johan can make their mark

Look at any 4chan board or forum that sucks usually reduced diversity is to blame

I think an elephant in the room is that the moderation bans massive amounts of users to the point that nobody feels like contributing anything anymore. Its why on .is and .org nobody goes out of their way to create good content, I really wonder where those people are these days.

This doesn't make sense to me, the idea for these communities is to create introspective echo chambers where the echo/idea is examined through collective effort. The core motive is to understand these ideas first and challenge them second. Can't do that in a pre-hostile environment where said diversity of opinion leads to exclusion. it deviates the core topic of the discussion if not the whole idea for the community.

Second, not all ideas and added individuals offer the same value, if they offer any at all. Even in this place you claim to be diversely challenging there are rules and obvious hierarchy for most engaged users and for Gatekeeping against fags. The women. the ("low IQ". Unfamiliars. Memers etc). done by micro aggressive behaviour. Shunning. Mocking. Ignoring them. And Much needed to keep intentionally undesirable if not outright harmful opinions out of the picture.

Then look at subReddit, the reflection to these boards is innumerable. They are not lacking in diversity or quantity. But quality and effort. R9k best days started as a doom and gloom haven for the losers then woman started to join.
