Obito was devastated by Rin's death for several reasons:

  1. Emotional Attachment: Obito had deep feelings for Rin. She was one of his closest friends, and they shared a strong bond, especially since they had grown up together in the Hidden Leaf Village as children. He had romantic feelings for her, and her death shattered him emotionally.
  2. Betrayal and Misunderstanding: Obito believed that Rin had been killed by the Hidden Leaf Village's forces, especially since it was initially presented to him that she had been intentionally killed by Kakashi Hatake, another of his close friends. This caused him to feel betrayed by both Kakashi and the village. His inability to understand the full situation—Rin's sacrifice to prevent the tailed beast inside her from being unleashed—made him feel deeply wronged.
  3. The Loss of Hope: Before Rin's death, Obito had a vision of a world where he, Rin, and Kakashi would live in peace together. Her death shattered that hope. In his grief, he became disillusioned with the world and lost faith in humanity, feeling that the world was fundamentally cruel and that peace could never be achieved. This loss of hope drove him toward the desire to reshape the world through the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
  4. Isolation and Despair: Obito's emotional distress was compounded by his feelings of loneliness and abandonment. After Rin's death, he was further isolated from others. The trauma of losing his loved one, combined with the perceived betrayal by Kakashi and the village, left Obito in a state of intense despair. He was emotionally broken and sought a way to escape that pain by embracing darkness and the ideology of the Akatsuki.
In summary, Rin's death was the turning point for Obito. It pushed him into a spiral of emotional devastation, grief, and a desire to reshape the world. Her death was not only the loss of someone he loved but also the loss of his idealistic view of the world and his relationships.

It really does seem like a plothole that he was somehow so obsessed over her he started a war just because she died. I don't know, some niggas are weird, I would never care that much about another person. If I was him, I would have gotten back to the village and betrayed Madara. I guess I just don't love deeply enough, so I also don't hate deeply enough.
