Have you ever noticed that a lot of people will blame their own inadequacies on you?
When I was younger, people would pressure me into smiling more, despite the fact that I was feeling content. Because they couldn't see my smile, it made them feel insecure.
Now that I'm older, a lot of misunderstandings are misinterpreted as my fault, even when the other person missed something or made a mistake. I've even noticed that if I don't react the way they want, such as to talk enough or say whatever they want to hear, they'll become sarcastic and passive aggressive. They'll accuse me of something, even in situations where nobody needs to be blamed.
I wish I'd realized this sooner; wish I didn't blame myself as much, wish I didn't let the stress and anxiety become debilitating. Wish I learned how to tell people to fuck off sooner.
